Wrap Up
I will no longer be posting rants or pictures for the Con Spam-a-Lot series I’ve been doing here. I’m sick of it, and I’m sick of writing and venting about it. To be sure, I’ll still send in mailed responses should I keep receiving the Con spam in my mailbox (as a matter of fact, I mailed in 12 today), but I don’t want to turn this into a political ranting blog and I don’t want this to be a Con Spam-a-Lot blog. I belong to the Facebook group, and from now on, any ranting I need to do will go there instead. If I hear back from Rob Zandee, I’ll let you know, but otherwise I’m done with this.
On another note, my smaller series, Sod Paradise and Put Up a Golf Course, also needs some closure. In city hall’s most recent newsletter, mayor Gordon Smith states in his message to the townsfolk, “Last month, Red Mountain Ventures formally notified Council that they would not be moving forward with their golf course proposal.” So, it is done. And, I feel a sense of victory over this, as should the CRD group who worked so hard to oppose the proposal.
The mayor’s message continues, “Despite the mistrust and negativity that surrounded this application, it is vital that the community re-establishes our positive approach to address issues rationally and in the context of a sustainable future for Rossland.” Fine. Except, I resent the implication that some of us were irrational about our opposition to the golf course. If you expect us all to be doormats about development around here, you need to change your expectations, Gordo. If this issue has taught me anything, it’s that my faith in the people of this town is worthwhile and that the citizens of Rossland will not just roll over and let someone screw them.
Now cooking over at ReTorte: Quinoa with Black Beans.
Congrats on the defeat of the golf course!
So glad to hear that your actions (along with your fellow residents) opposing the golf course were successful!
Nicely said WC. I dont think I could have said it any better. Congrats on the victory though.
Way ta go! That’s all anybody needs right now in this economic climate – another golf course…>>I admire your political activism!
