More Con Spam

August 21, 2009

This week, once again courtesy Colin Fucking Mayes of Okanagan-Shuswap, the Cons have stuffed our mailboxes in town with spam. The subject of the most recent flyer: airport saftey! It touts “Better airport security” and “Less hassle for travellers” and “More jobs for surrounding communities.” Claiming an investment of $282 million in airports across Canada, this is apparently part of the Cons’ much ballyhooed Economic Action Plan and purports that they are investing in “new technologies, new security processes, and more personnel to make your experience more secure and more efficient.” 80 airports are said to be receiving funds.

I swiped 5 of these flyers and wrote the following on them, all to be sent to Mr. Mayes postage paid.
“Yes, I feel so much safer now that we have to put all our toiletries in either tiny bottles or in our checked baggage. Very nice. Good going!”
“I don’t think the kids in Attawapiskat give a shit about this. $282 million would build one hell of a school.”
“I’m sure Suaad Hagi Mohamud is thrilled to hear this! I hope she sues your asses off for doing what you did to her!”
“I bet there isn’t any less hassle for Maher Arar, right?”
“It’s a shame you couldn’t invest some of that money in Air Canada to make it a way better airline.”

The idea that we’ll get better security from airport goons if there are more of them to get in our way, is insulting.

little did the citizens know the roads would be used for rolling tanks across.

but you know all that…i’m just frickin’ tired…ahhh! good night

I agree. That money could be spent in a lot of better places.

Our little area benefited a bit when Homeland Security doubled the number of Border Patrol and Customs officers. It’s a waste of federal money, but the payrolls have helped our community. The extra officers just drive around all day, doing nothing, but it’s a good paying job with benefits. 😦

Heaven forbid that we put that money into education or health-care.

Okay, it’s official – I love you! I hope you put those flyers up in a nice prominent spot where they get loads of attention. Great guerrilla activism, co-opting their own flyers!

Barbara: Oh, the flyers get mailed back with my comments written in bold red or black marker all over them, sometimes with horns & mustache doodled on top of the pic of Harper. Mailing shit to MPs is free, so here are our tax dollars at work! You asked for my opinion, you’ll get my opinion!

Ah yes, I did miss that point (that you had mailed them back) the first time! Silly me.

It’s disgusting how Suaad was treated by Kenyan and Canadian officials. Poor woman just wanted to visit her mother and come back home. Reflects on the selfishness and prejudice of our current government.
