Plane Snacks
Keeping track of my flights’ statuses online but it’s a bit early yet. I do see that the Vancouver- Toronto flight I’m on tomorrow was nearly an hour delayed today and the Toronto – Halifax flight I’m on tomorrow was over an hour delayed today. Hopefully it will all be smooth sailing for me!
Since this is Air Canada I’m flying, there are no meals provided on any of my flights. I’ll be en route for 12 hours and in the air about 10.5. If you want to buy a meal on the two longer flights, it’s $9 for what I’m sure will be a crappy sandwich. So, I decided to provide my own food and have come up with an eating plan for myself. This may sound nuts, but I hate being starving while travelling; it ups my anxiety level several notches and I also worry about my IBS when on the plane.
For breakfast I will just have plain toast. When I arrive in Van at 10:30am, I’ll have a two-hour lay-over. I plan on hitting Starbucks for a stiff mocha and then, about an hour before boarding the flight to TO, I’ll hit a sandwich place and have a brunch.
For the plane, I purchased from Shoppers Drug Mart a bag of trail mix and a bag of kettle cooked peanuts (I’d have preferred cashews, but they were over double the price). I also have three chocolate bars. From LOGS I purchased a banana.
Dinnertime will be interesting because I only have 50 minutes between flights, and I will need some dinner. Not wanting to take a sandwich because of refrigeration issues, I decided to purchase a piece of pizza from LOGS to eat for my dinner. It can sit out at room temperature for a while and will make a nice supper, I think. It was $6 and looks pretty good.
Here are my goodies.

It looks like there will be some good eating on the journey. And that’s only on the way there!
Bon voyage, my friend! Have a great trip.
I always bring food when I travel, as I hate putting a small charge on my credit card, and they never have any veggie options. Hope the delays aren’t too bad. Safe travels!
My flight tomorrow is only three and a half hours and I am woefully less organised than you WC. I will probably just purchase cheese and crackers from the inflight menu and be charged an extortionate amount LOL. Bon voyage!! I hope you have a totally brilliant time in the East xx
Good plan. I always plan my travel food as well, it does help me relax, and being vegan it makes my life a heck of a lot easier. Have a great trip!
