Another Year Comes & Goes…

October 17, 2011

A sculpture we encountered in Yaletown Park during the scavenger hunt on Saturday.

The weekend Communiqueting was wonderful.  I reconnected with some old friends that I met at last year’s BlogCon at Barb’s in Calgary, which was lovely.  It hardly felt like a year had passed.  I also had the opportunity to meet new people that were just lovely, and I got to meet one of my long-time – as in from 2005 and one of my first blog friends ever – SME of Cult of the Lepus.  That was amazing!  I felt very lucky and grateful to have had the opportunity to attend Communique and very blessed to have such great people in my life.

It was a busy weekend, and now I am exhausted.  I did an awful lot of walking over the weekend, including a 5 hour scavenger hunt that took me & my team from Davie & Thurlow to Yaletown (where the other half live, and do it in style, apparently…Jesus…), Chinatown, Gastown (where I reunited with the Fluevog salesman I met in Juno, who recognized me right off the bat when I walked in the store), downtown Downtown via Granville, and back to the Communique HQ at Davie & Thurlow.  Super fun, saw some crazy shit, got another Nightwish garment that I couldn’t afford, and saw in person that God-awful POS waste of tax payer money, the Owe-lympic cauldron/torch/hideous monstrosity that looks like a bunch of partially smoked cigarettes in an upside down ashtray.  I ate a lot (we all did) and I even got drunk one night on half a martini.  I saw gay bars, a gay man’s sexual clothing store called Priape, many costume stores, busty female mannequins, and had a very gay Persian waiter at a Malaysian restaurant unrecommend a dish that I ordered anyway.  Yeah, lots of risks there.  (If I could have gotten a half-decent pic of Priape, I would be posting one here because their front window display was something else…)

Now I need some days of rest.  But I also have shit to do.  Luckily, I’m pretty schedule-less this month.

I’m really glad you were able to encounter the giant head, although I was disappointed to hear that one can no longer clamber inside.

It did feel as though we picked up exactly where we left off last year, didn’t it? With a few great additions in friendship along the way. Thank you for making the weekend memorable.

You summed it up well my friend… Communique provided a wealth of experiences that I will continue to digest in the coming weeks.

It was great to see you again too and the fun times that came along with it. It did my heart good to see you find another great Nightwish souvenir too. Expenses be damned, sometimes you just have to do these things for yourself!

Priape was hilarious, wasn’t it? It was close to our hotel and I giggled every time we passed it…I swear they ordered an extra-endowed mannequin for that front window display.

It was great meeting you guys! An experience to treasure.

I love that you met the shoe guy in Juno. was that a slip of the keys or autocorrect?

Hey sounds like you had a great time and things have finally slowed down a bit for you. Let me know if you’re free for a visit in the near future. Would love to see you.
